Win the Lottery at the Pearl Residences

Friday, April 16th, 2010

This is an image taken with just a cheap instant camera on a sunny day.  We believe this is Mojo, an offspring of our resident wild dolphin JoJo of Providenciales. I can’t express what it means to have a wild dolphin ‘choose’ you to play with.  A word of caution, please if you do come down here and meet up with the wild dolphin pack, be careful.  Drive in a straight path, at and don’t change your speed.  The reason we know for a fact this isn’t JoJo is that this dolphin isn’t covered in scars.this is mojo, part of the 'adopted' pod created for JoJo

The dolphins will happily play in the path of the waves, and believe me it is beyond any entertainment you will ever be able to buy a ticket for.  But the dolphins will not be able to react quickly enough to the changes in direction/speed and will be hit by the blades of your outboard.

We took about 5 shots.  In the beginning we just stared dumbfounded, then we were hit with an elation that winning the lottery couldn’t compare to. I have no idea how long Mojo  was there. We felt amazingly ‘chosen’ and the wonder of pure joy and playfulness.  I was three years old again. To think that something so wild and free can ‘enjoy’ and ‘play’ was amazing.  Surrounded by warnings of pollution and global warning, this left me with the feeling that there is still time..

The Turks & Caicos actually made a ‘choice’ to not offer ‘penned’ dolphins and to allow JoJo to be free, and support, and protect his pod.  Beautiful by Nature simply doesn’t cover it.  I can’t believe I would feel even half of the elation with a penned dolphin, who has no choice but to ’play’.  I know I would turn down a million dollar lottery ticket to experience that day again.

Best Friends in Middle Caicos

Best Friends in Middle Caicos

Part of experiencing the Turks & Caicos Islands includes watching it grow in depth and compassion.  With all the luxury that you could wish for at the Pearl Residences, it is humbling to look at a happiness a little pup can bring.  Helping with the local potcake population really brings home what is truly important.  By opening up access to healthcare and education for these ‘ambassadors’ of the island you truly become part of the Beautiful by Nature experience.

We love animals and find that they truly do widen your world, Potcakes are dogs whose ancestors came on the ships that first landed.  True potcakes are still very tiny dogs, around the 30 pound mark.  Having Terrier traits, being the originals were ‘ratters’ who kept their ships and masters safe from the rats that plauged the ships.

Sadly, many of the potcakes are growing larger in size due to larger breeds being imported and not being spayed or neutered.  Please consider being a responsible owner, the Turks & Caicos will be better for it.  Also, look around the Turks & Caicos to see how you can join in on the evolution of this lovely country.  You and this land will be better for it!  To find out more visit http://www.tcspca.tc/news.html
